Do you ever feel burnt out or in need of a little motivation boost? It can happen to any of us from time to time. If you’re constantly on the go, it’s easy to feel tired, stressed and in need of a little relief. Here are five simple strategies to recharge your batteries and be ready to tackle the world (again).

1. Unplug – Take a day off. In our 24/7 immediate-access culture, the idea of unplugging may seem like a far-fetched notion, but it’s not. For the truly addicted, this may cause a bit of anxiety at first, but neither the world nor you will implode because you’re offline for a day. Give yourself a much-deserved guilt-free break from the constant pinging and dinging and re-connect to things that truly matter.

For a longer-term impact, set boundaries for yourself with all of your devices. Cut them off in the evening or find other ways to add more “unplug” time to your week.

2. Play – What do you love to do? Set up a play date – with yourself, your significant other, your kids or anyone that will put a smile on your face. The possibilities are endless.

Playing cards, a round of monopoly, a game of hide-‘n-seek, a trip to the bowling alley or the skating rink are just some of the possibilities. Find an activity that will get bring out your inner child and let the laughter begin.

3. Get Outside – Nature is good for the soul and your mind. There is a growing body of research that reports a relatively new malady – Nature-Deficit Disorder. It seems that many of us are not getting outside enough, but doing so would do us a world of good. We respond in a positive way to birds chirping and brooks babbling. It’s a great de-stressor in our too-busy lives.

So stroll down by the river, walk barefoot in the grass or do some cloud watching at your favorite park. Mother Nature awaits.

4. Travel – An excursion for a day, a week or longer is a great way to recharge your batteries. It doesn’t have to be a big or expensive vacation to get your juices flowing. A trip to the beach, the mountains or your favorite get-away can do wonders for taking a break from the day-to-day stresses. Travel can provide valuable rest and relaxation time away from your daily demands or provide you with some exciting new adventures to jumpstart your mojo.

5. Mix It Up – Maybe, taking a vacation or even a day off is not in the cards right now. If you want to get unstuck with little effort, mix it up. Eat at a new restaurant, take a different route to work, or call a long-lost friend and reconnect. Shake things up by just breaking some daily habits. It will re-awaken your senses, fuel some imagination and inspire new possibilities.
